✨ Guide to hair extensions ✨

✨ Guide to hair extensions ✨

I’m so excited to collaborate with you on your hair extension journey! Hair is a huge part of our identity, and I don’t take the trust you place in me lightly. Extensions give you the versatility to go from shoulder-length hair in the morning to long, luxurious locks at night. I know extensions can feel overwhelming with all the methods, hair jargon, and investment questions, so I created this guide to make it easy to understand your options, cost, maintenance, and more.

Consultation:
Before your first extension appointment, a consultation is required to discuss your hair goals, lifestyle, and budget. Together, we’ll select the best method, hair type, and length. Consultations can be scheduled in-person or virtually via Zoom. Deposits are required to secure your appointment and go toward the cost of hair.

Deposit & Payment:

  • Deposit = cost of hair

  • Remaining balance = installation + any additional services at the appointment

  • Retainer is non-refundable

Tariff Surcharge:
Currently, a tariff surcharge of $14 per item is added to your hair cost.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 24-hour notice required to reschedule or cancel

  • Less than 24-hour notice = 50% fee of the missed service

  • If you’re feeling under the weather, please let me know ASAP—even a hunch—to avoid fees ❤️‍🩹

  • Weather cancellations are free if roads are unsafe

Investment

First-time extension clients can expect to invest $500–$1,300+, depending on length, density, color, and application method.

Maintenance:
All tape-in and weft methods require in-salon maintenance every 6–10 weeks to protect your natural hair and the extensions. Move-ups ensure your hair looks seamless and healthy.

Extension Methods & Options

I am certified in several methods, with Bellami being my preferred brand. Other methods include Hot Heads, Clutch Couture, and More Than A Method.

Tape-In Extensions

  • Adhesive tape secures extensions to your roots in a “sandwich” method

  • Lengths: 14–24”

  • Initial Installation: $560–$870 per pack

  • Move-Ups: $90–$220 per pack

✨ Double the Hair, Double the Life ✨

Want your extensions to last longer and cut down on reinstall time? I offer a Second Set Deal just for my Tape-In babes:

Buy one set of Tape-In extensions, get your second set 50% off.

Why this is a win:

  • While one set is in, I can peel, clean, and prep your second set for the next install.

  • No more waiting on sticky adhesive removal during your appointment—we simply swap sets.

  • Rotating sets keeps your extensions looking fresh and extends the overall lifespan of the hair.

  • Saves you time in the chair and keeps your hair investment working harder for you.

Think of it like having two pairs of favorite sneakers—you’re just trading them off so they stay looking brand new longer.

Keratin Tip (K-Tip) Extensions

(my fav application method!)

  • Semi-permanent single strands attached with heat

  • Made with keratin and silicone coating to protect hair

  • Lengths: 16–24”

  • Installation: $520–$2,380

  • Removal: $250

  • No move-ups required, hair falls out gradually over time. Most guests can expect to have a full removal and reinstall after 4-6 months.

Beaded Row Extensions

  • Flexible, sewn-in wefts with 1–2 rows on average; no heat or adhesive

  • Lengths: 16–24”

  • Initial Installation: $550–$640 per row

  • Mini Move-Ups: $95–$195 per row

  • Full Move-Ups: $190–$290 per row

How many rows?

  • 1 Row – Adds density without length (ideal for medium hair)

  • 2 Rows – Most common, adds both thickness & length

  • 3+ Rows – Custom installation for fuller or longer styles

Maintenance & Care

  • Move-Ups: Every 6–8 weeks for tape-in & Beaded Rows

  • Full Reinstallation: Every 3–6 months

  • Washing: Lukewarm water, hydrating sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner

  • Brushing: Always brush before wetting; use boar bristle brush

  • Styling: Safe with heat tools, always use heat protectant

  • Sleeping: Low ponytail or braid; silk pillowcase recommended

  • Swimming: Not recommended; sunscreen can discolor extensions

Length Guide & Rows

  • 14” – Shoulder length, subtle thickness, perfect for filling in

  • 18” – Chest length, adds thickness/length

  • 22” – Mermaid length, adds both thickness & length

FAQs

Can extensions damage hair?
When installed and maintained correctly, extensions should not cause damage. Neglecting care or improper application can lead to breakage.

Can I pull my hair back or work out?
Yes! Low ponytails, buns, or claw clips work well.

Can I style as usual?
Yes! Heat tools are safe with heat protectant.

☀️ Sunscreen

Sunscreen can discolor hair extensions (especially blondes, which may turn green or orange). Please do everything you can to avoid direct contact. Even applying sunscreen with your hair pulled back isn’t always enough to prevent transfer.

Do they hurt or pull?
Extensions may feel heavy initially, but should not pull or damage hair.

How long do extensions last/are they reusable?
With proper care, 8–12 months. Maintenance appointments are key.

Are extensions high-maintenance?
They require a lot of care: consistent brushing, careful washing, proper sleeping routines, and regular move-ups.

The Bellami Difference:

Why I Use Bellami Hair Extensions

Hair extensions are something I’ve been passionate about, before I was even a licensed cosmetologist. When we do our research, it doesn’t take long to learn that not all hair extensions are created equal- and there’s a dark side to the hair extensions sourcing industry. I am a certified in several hair extension installation methods and brands, and Bellami is who I’ve stuck with. Just as quality is important, it's equally (if not more) important for me to know how it is sourced, This means that we both can feel good about using the hair because we know it is obtained responsibly.

The hair Bellami uses for their extensions is ethically sourced from Northern and Western Asia.

Another huge reason I love Bellami hair extensions is the consistent quality. With proper care, my clients can go 9-10 months before tossing their hair extensions, which means you get the most value for their money!

Bellami also stands behind the hair and will replace within ninety (90) days of you receiving your order if there are any defects. This gives both of us peace of mind and allows me s maintain my reputation of high-quality products and services.

In conclusion, I love and will continue to use Bellami hair extensions because of their quality, ethical sourcing, guarantee, and education. I want you to have all the good feels about your new look, and Bellami ensures I deliver on that promise!
